Incentive to renewable energies could be Dominican law today

Santo Domingo.- The Executive Branch might sign the regulation to apply the Renewable Energies Incentive into law today, to coincide with the close of Energy Week, slated for the hotel Jaragua tonight.

"We need the regulation and for Customs and Internal Taxes to do their job because it’s necessary to label them (the imported products) so people know they didn’t pay taxes and can’t be charged a higher price than what is established," said National Energy Commission president (CNE) Arístides Fernandez Zucco yesterday.

It’s the first time Energy Week is held in the country and aims to introduce generation sources independent of petroleum. Its conclusions will be released next week in a press conference.

However Fernandez said the country received around 20 proposals to develop alternative energy projects, mostly wind power parks, with concessions for 250 megawatts already approved in Baní, Montecristi and Puerto Plata.

He said the CNE also negotiates a 300 megawatt project with Spain’s Hiberdrola, in Pedernales, home to the country’s highest airflow. He said there are also proposals to produce ethanol from sugar cane and other plants, with total investments of around 2.0 billion dollars.

Another tip. Do not wait for me to post stuff, read it all yourself. Go to the IV board, click on the ID BioMoneyMan (owner of Geobiofuels), you can quickly and easily read all of his posts. The most informative.
