November is upon us... - 2008/11/07 09:27 pmThe following dialog is a work of fiction and is the sole thoughts of the author.....or are they????/haha/haha/
Buyer: Welcome to Low Home Depot what can I do for you?
Vendor: We(I) have a new stain remover for you.
B: Really, like we dont have a hundred of those come thru here daily. Why are you so special?
V: Ours was designed to remove all types of paint stains, and we discovered it worked on everything from dog pee to red wine stains.
B: Ok tell me more
V: Its an Echo product and works great out of the bottle or you can cut it down with water for a more economical use.
B: Well where are you from and who carries this product
V: We are a Canadian company and its carried all across Canada. We are carried by various independent operators in the U.S. as well.
B: Where is it manufactured
V: The U.S.A, Grand Rapids Mi.
B: Well it appears you are a small company by our standards. How are you going to keep up with the likes of a Big Box Retailer who has over 2500 stores.
V: The manufacture we use has the capacity to put out over 100,000 bottles of our product.
B: Well that is impressive, how are you going to promote this product.
V: We have racks, and we have various sizes..from 4oz travel size to 5 gallon jugs. We have radio and print advertising in place and can add more. We are a supplier of product for ABC T.V Extreme Home Make Over, we have support from national paint magazines. We will give you advertising allowance and display promotional pricing.
B: Ok, sounds very good...oh one last thing and this is very important....we expect our vendors to do store follow up to ensure that the product is taken care of while in our stores and damage goods are also accounted for. Now you being a small company, I am sure you do not have the sales force to handle this...so I am sorry but we.....uh..what you have who.
V: We are represented by Orgill, one of, if not the largest independent distributor with sales reps in every state in the union. They cover major retailers like Sears as well as independent retailers across the nation.
B: One last thing what about our competitors, do we have to worry about your product showing up there, or will we be the only one to carry it.
V: Worry!
B: Ok, if you can make a few changes in a few things we have a deal....
V: We can do that....see you in Nov to sign the paper work and set up the initial delivery.
B: Sounds good, see you then and we will get this going in just about 8 to 12 weeks after we sign. Have a good day.....
V: You too...
The End...or is it.....only the Buyer and Vendor know for sure...I only have myself to blame, never others, stand and take responsibility.

*** MEMO FROM ERIC
RE: STATUS OF MAJOR U.S. ACCOUNT BANNER LISTING
I would like to be clear on how I will handle the dissemination of news in connection with the targeted U.S. major retailer that people have been talking about.
I was told by that target account that they would like to reach their definitive decision on November 11th. If that decision is negative, I will advise the investor forums immediately, so that there is no avoidance of the issue. If the decision is yes, or we do not yet hear on the 11th, no public advice will be made prior to receiving the consent of the legal department of that major account. It is also possible that the business management of that account would like to keep the news about its launch of Winning Colours Stain Remover confidential until the product is actually on the shelves so as to not compromise their competitive position.
Accordingly, silence on the 11th or subsequent days is not to be construed as bad news. A definitive decision by that account to pass on Winning Colours at this time will be revealed immediately.
Re:November is upon us... - 2008/11/11 08:24 amThe following is my response to Eric memo as I have had several questions sent to me regarding the time table it takes to get product on the shelf. TG

Cougar let me see if I can answer your question and give it some detail. Having worked with company's with stores in all 50 states and in mumbers in excess of 2500 stores here is how it works.
1. Company approves a new product at the buyers desk. Process starts.
2. Information on the product(s) are sent to the IT department for system loading. This is information on UPC, Size, Discription, Pallet size, truck load size, (this is needed for warehousing the product in their distribution warehouse accross the country) They also load pricing, regular, and allowance pricing. This takes approx. one to two weeks, why, because we will not be the only product that needs to be loaded. There is a time allowed for loading new items, its not random, its scheduled. At the same time the product info is sent to the division of the company that sets it position on the sales floor. They dont just throw it in any empty hole on the shelf.
3. We inform the buyer when the initial order will be ready to ship. We must inform our manufactur of the size of the original order and they then must begin production. We do not have this product sitting on pallets just hoping the NA takes us....lot of money sitting on a non guarantee basis. Depending on the size of the order and the destination it can take 4 to 6 weeks to get it distributed to all the needed areas in the country.
4. Product is then sent to the stores and is ready for placement on the shelves. At the same time reps schedule times to go to the stores and put the product on the shelf or ensure the stores have put it out. This is the most important part. I can not tell you how many times in my retail life I have seen new product show up at a store and spend weeks in a back room before the people in the store get to spotting it on the shelf. The salse force of an organization like Orgill is the key to this getting put out. This process is a one to two week process...
If you look at the above and I am close to the time it takes, and I am very, very sure I am, we are looking at Jan. Reason is this, we are not a Christmas item...We will not get priority during the holiday season. But that does not mean we will not reap the advantages of being acecpted by the NA.
Although there will not be a PR until the NA says there can be, we can and will go to the credit people and we will have our credit limit raised. In these harsh credit times that is a great thing...also this will be something that can be PR'd. We will have the advantage of speaking with other accounts and will be able to tell them we have been acecpted by a National Chain, wont name them but can say we have exposure coming.
There will be many positive business things that come from us being acecpted even though we may have to hold off naming the company.
One of the things I will enjoy is I feel the company stock will be very undervalued until some people see it in print....the PPS will rise, but not to the level it will after the announcement. So buying at sub penny as it climbs is the thing to do. Its my contention the stock will be above two cents with in a four week period I will be buying at every opportunity I have until we are announced...as one, two or three cents is going to be a hell of a bargin...come Jan it will be double digit pricing so now is the time to take advantage.
One last thing, do not assume for one min. that Eric and Winning Brands will be sitting on their collective asses and just watiting for the NA, this is a multi diversive company and I expect we will see news on many other fronts while we wait for the public announcement of the NA....
This is going to be a GREAT HOLIDAY FOR ALL OF US HERE...Even the ones who own it but will not admit it. Have a great day everyone. TGI only have myself to blame, never others, stand and take responsibility.
