Right Pollie but not all catagories will be down. People will spend on the things they need for their daily lives. Electronics, clothing, toys, they will suffer this year...people will buy less of the expensive items, but they wont go hungry nor will they let it get dirty before company comes over..we are in a good spot for this holiday season. I only have myself to blame, never others, stand and take responsibility.

Sure, it hurts now, but in about 8-10 months, we'll see this was for the better. That's how markets work in this system -- there is no real regualtory or clean up systems in place. Thus we engage the boom-bust cycle due to our lack of control on the operations of the economy. CDSs go unchecked, banks go willy nilly, and people are ok w/ that since they believe "regulation" is a bad word. So -- stick with unregualted markets and you'll see what we have today. Else, look for alternatives.
Also, if you're worried about unemployment, don't. That's the only factor keeping inflation in check. Always remember the Philips model in which high levels of employment mean greater spending power. In turn, that implies inflation as to allow the cash flow of such spending power. From the people I talk to at retail, still have connections at a few places, you can count on one of the biggest Black Friday ever.
People will see prices on things lower then they ever have. Retail will hold of on any major price ajustments until then. They will bank as much profit as they can until Friday morning, the day after Thanksgiving...I only have myself to blame, never others, stand and take responsibility.
