Re:POLITICAL DISCUSSION - 2008/10/11 07:04 amI read something where other countries citizens were picking on Americans about this crisis and the market going down and our fears.
If you had Bush as your President and Pelosi as the leader of the house shoving her bills down the throats of the public with all that pork, you would be sick also.
Just think what will happen in this country if Dumbo gets elected, with Pelosi leading congress, then factor in the Dems will have a majority in the house & senate. I can hear the pigs screaming now runnning for cover. Piles of pork, talk about bankruptcy. You cut spending, you cut every frigging thing you can think of in tough times. In proseperous times I can buy into a democratic regime, but not in times like these, we don't have money to give away right now, buckle up the spending immediately. Please remember I'm the guy who has NEVER voted republican til this year. Even I get it, common sense.I love SPNG & WNBD! NEWS VERY SOON!

Re:POLITICAL DISCUSSION - 2008/10/11 07:12 amFriday, October 10, 2008 Paulson: Government to Buy Stock in Financial Institutions, Historic Losses on Wall Street Despite Late Rally
WASHINGTON--The government will buy an ownership stake in a broad array of American banks for the first time since the Great Depression, Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said late Friday, announcing the historic step after stock markets jolted still lower around the world despite all efforts to slow the selling stampede.
Separately, the U.S. and the globe's other industrial powers pledged to take "decisive action and use all available tools" to prevent a worldwide economic catastrophe.
"This is a period like none of us has ever seen before," declared Paulson at a rare Friday night news conference. He said the government program to purchase stock in private U.S. financial firms will be open to a broad array of institutions, including banks, in an effort to help them raise desperately needed money.I love SPNG & WNBD! Re:POLITICAL DISCUSSION - 2008/10/11 07:19 amI wonder how this latest plan will work out of our govt buying stock in financial institutions. I can picture some big hitters licking their chops that are already in waiting for Uncle Sam to sell into them after a little run. Make some quick dough and down the road while Uncle Sam holds the bag.
I promise to start posting some positive articles, PROMISE! I'm trying to open my mind to finding a silver lining somewhere.
How about this: How about the regular Joe Schmo who has been living conservatively and being prudent with his budget, over the next year that family will do better overall with gas coming down, food prices coming down, markets going back up gradually....can't think of anymore, sorry, I'm trying. All of this is if you keep your job, if we don't slide further economically, time will tell, no idea how to survive Dumbo though. That is the final nail in the coffin. Re:POLITICAL DISCUSSION - 2008/10/11 09:44 amA real republican candidate for president would have voted "nay" on the bailout. Committing "our" money, with such a poor understanding of where it would go, is a sad commentary.
Do you recall, they passed out a glossary of Wall St. terminology, to the Congressmen, before they deliberated the vote? THEY HAD NO CLUE.
I want hearings to start immediately because, if we don't expose those responsible, they will remain in their positions to continue the destruction.
On a personal note: We moved all of our serious money, 401K and IRA's, into PIMCO a few weeks ago. I'm about to call "BOTTOM" and go back to the stock based funds.I may not always be right but I'm never wrong

Re:POLITICAL DISCUSSION - 2008/10/11 10:02 amHank1 wrote: AND HERE'S WHAT CAUSED IT !! Thank You President Clinton ....
NY Times article
September 30, 1999 Fannie Mae Eases Credit To Aid Mortgage Lending By STEVEN A. HOLMES In a move that could help increase home ownership rates among minorities and low-income consumers, the Fannie Mae Corporation is easing the credit requirements on loans that it will purchase from banks and other lenders. The action, which will begin as a pilot program involving 24 banks in 15 markets -- including the New York metropolitan region -- will encourage those banks to extend home mortgages to individuals whose credit is generally not good enough to qualify for conventional loans. Fannie Mae officials say they hope to make it a nationwide program by next spring. Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, has been under increasing pressure from the Clinton Administration to expand mortgage loans among low and moderate income people and felt pressure from stock holders to maintain its phenomenal growth in profits. In addition, banks, thrift institutions and mortgage companies have been pressing Fannie Mae to help them make more loans to so-called subprime borrowers. These borrowers whose incomes, credit ratings and savings are not good enough to qualify for conventional loans, can only get loans from finance companies that charge much higher interest rates -- anywhere from three to four percentage points higher than conventional loans. ''Fannie Mae has expanded home ownership for millions of families in the 1990's by reducing down payment requirements,'' said Franklin D. Raines, Fannie Mae's chairman and chief executive officer. ''Yet there remain too many borrowers whose credit is just a notch below what our underwriting has required who have been relegated to paying significantly higher mortgage rates in the so-called subprime market.'' Demographic information on these borrowers is sketchy. But at least one study indicates that 18 percent of the loans in the subprime market went to black borrowers, compared to 5 per cent of loans in the conventional loan market. In moving, even tentatively, into this new area of lending, Fannie Mae is taking on significantly more risk, which may not pose any difficulties during flush economic times. But the government-subsidized corporation may run into trouble in an economic downturn, prompting a government rescue similar to that of the savings and loan industry in the 1980's. ''From the perspective of many people, including me, this is another thrift industry growing up around us,'' said Peter Wallison a resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. ''If they fail, the government will have to step up and bail them out the way it stepped up and bailed out the thrift industry.'' Under Fannie Mae's pilot program, consumers who qualify can secure a mortgage with an interest rate one percentage point above that of a conventional, 30-year fixed rate mortgage of less than $240,000 -- a rate that currently averages about 7.76 per cent. If the borrower makes his or her monthly payments on time for two years, the one percentage point premium is dropped. Fannie Mae, the nation's biggest underwriter of home mortgages, does not lend money directly to consumers. Instead, it purchases loans that banks make on what is called the secondary market. By expanding the type of loans that it will buy, Fannie Mae is hoping to spur banks to make more loans to people with less-than-stellar credit ratings. Fannie Mae officials stress that the new mortgages will be extended to all potential borrowers who can qualify for a mortgage. But they add that the move is intended in part to increase the number of minority and low income home owners who tend to have worse credit ratings than non-Hispanic whites. Home ownership has, in fact, exploded among minorities during the economic boom of the 1990's. The number of mortgages extended to Hispanic applicants jumped by 87.2 per cent from 1993 to 1998, according to Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing Studies. During that same period the number of African Americans who got mortgages to buy a home increased by 71.9 per cent and the number of Asian Americans by 46.3 per cent. In contrast, the number of non-Hispanic whites who received loans for homes increased by 31.2 per cent. Despite these gains, home ownership rates for minorities continue to lag behind non-Hispanic whites, in part because blacks and Hispanics in particular tend to have on average worse credit ratings. In July, the Department of Housing and Urban Development proposed that by the year 2001, 50 percent of Fannie Mae's and Freddie Mac's portfolio be made up of loans to low and moderate-income borrowers. Last year, 44 percent of the loans Fannie Mae purchased were from these groups. The change in policy also comes at the same time that HUD is investigating allegations of racial discrimination in the automated underwriting systems used by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to determine the credit-worthiness of credit applicants.
I always believed, the lax lending was intended to serve a very narrow population base, drawn strictly on race. Non white, low income borrowers were the target and from a social, slavery guilt, perspective, it seemed like a good idea.
The Democrats were soothing their social conscience by granting racial favors, which historically has been their underlying platform.
I blame the Republicans. The collapse of the dotcom bubble, 911 and 2 wars, all caused by George Bush, took the Republican's "eye off the ball". The Democrats were permitted to proceed, unregulated. Through FANNIE & FREDDIE, the subprimes that were intended to service under 5% of the mortgage market grew to service over 50% of the market.
The rest is history. Did the Democrats cause this? "HELL, YES". Did the Republicans permit it? "HELL, YES".I may not always be right but I'm never wrong

Who believes we'll get another check,"IN THE MAIL"?
Who believes a check "IN THE MAIL" is a tax cut?
Who believes you will see a tax cut when the Bush tax cuts expire?
Who believes universal health care is possible under any plan?
Who believes the pentagon costs more than the entitlement programs?
Who believes we won't have a boom of epic proportions, by 2011, when the economy has its legs back and the wars scale down? EPIC?
Who believes that Barnie Frank and Chris Dodd won't be brought up on corruption charges?
Who believes that Ayers, Wright, Pfleger, Rezko, Farrakhan, Mansour, Khalidi, Asbahi, ACORN, La Raza etal. don't matter and shouldn't keep you from worshipping "THE MESSIAH".
Can we survive without the federal government regulating, almost everything?
Can we survive if the federal government regulates, almost everything?

Re:POLITICAL DISCUSSION - 2008/10/13 07:53 amHeaven forbid you say he has any muslim ties, heaven forbid you say anything negative about him whatsoever or they say you are only saying it because he is black and then they will accuse you of being a racist. This whole thing is sick and very sad.
Someone told me they read a recent article of a black man who was shot 3 times for wearing an Obama TShirt. Wait til a year from now and see what will be happening in this country. As I've been saying for over a year now, this is the worst thing that could have happened for black people, wait and see the ramifications.
I wonder why every Acorn person on the streets is black, and is getting other black folks registered 100 times each? Not a joke either...It is called racism against whites, no one else has the balls to say it on television. Always the other way around though.
I'm still burning up inside over Obamas quote behind closed doors in San Franciso when speaking about rural America. Recorded in his own voice.
"Just your typical white people in rural America clinging to their guns and religion."
Can't believe he has gotten away with that statement alone....I love SPNG & WNBD! NEWS VERY SOON!

Re:POLITICAL DISCUSSION - 2008/10/13 08:50 amWell, it seems we are of like mind about McCain/Palin. I am so disappointed!
We filled out my absentee ballots last night, put them in the mail this am with the thought...wtf difference will it really make.
Final thought...I place my trust in our God in heaven because only he knows what is truly the best choice for all of us. Only he can fight the devil and win the battle. No matter who gets elected, I will view it as what needs/should happen and try to find peace in that knowledge.
Hope we have seen a bottom in the market and things will start to move back in the right direction.

Re:POLITICAL DISCUSSION - 2008/10/13 09:43 amFriday I saw a part of an Obama speech. He told the crowd about McCain has a new plan that wasnt all that new. They cheered, he told them how McCain said he'd buy up bad mortgages, they cheered, he said McCain forgot that I proposed that a week earlier, they cheered. He went on to say how eratic McCain was and taking his idea and making it his own, (sound familiar) they cheered. Then he changed the subject for a second then he went on to explain how dumb the idea that McCain has for buying mortgages, they cheered, he talked about what a stupid idea it was, they cheered, he talked how it was going to cost to much money and they cheered. I sat there in disbelief and dissapointment at the intelligence of this people. He just said it was his idea and McCain stole it and then he turns around 1 minute later and says what a dumb idea McCain had. The people just don't listen to his BS and they just stand there with idolized smiles and cheer. I felt like I was watching that part of the Ten Commandments movie where everyone was dancing around the golden calf and moses was watching when he returned with the tablets

This country is becoming disgraceful, amazing how the Federal Govt doesn't step in and see to it we don't have fair elections with this Acorn nonsense. Don't leave it to the head of each state, if the person is Democrat they don't care about fair elections. We must have that simple right in this country to fair elections, bad enough the media is brainwashing a public and a whole new youth generation to become liberal. As conservative principles in older folks die off. Just sit back and wonder about 10 or 20 years from now, will there ever be a republican President again?

Wrinks , it's not about your ability to make it, it's about how many can you support with your hard earned dollar and put yourself at the same level of net profit as the guy who works at Taco Bell. Thats fair!!! According to the Golden Calf. Its great philosophy he has , It's not fair that people make more money than you, it gives the company a great excuse not to give you a raise. You want a raise well sir didn't you vote for the Golden Calf? Well then you wouldn't want to get a raise and be one of the guys thats unfair and make to much do you? Oh and I'm sure all of those poor people don't want to buy lottery tickets and take the chance on winning and then being one of the bad guys either.
