Most issues on our site stem from users running out-of-date insecure Web Browser's (e.g: Internet Explorer 6.0). Upgrading your Web browser to Firefox, or Internet Explorer 7.0, will most likely solve any navigation/login issue you were experiencing. Stockwire recommend’s using Firefox but Windows Internet Explorer 7.0 will also work just fine.

What are 'cookies' and how are they used in the site?

Cookies are used throughout Stockwire.com to enhance your visit - if you do not enable cookies in your browser you will not be able to log-in or gain access to member areas of this site.

What are cookies?

Cookies are simply a method of identifying the computer you are using to the Stockwire web server. Normally when you connect to a web server to a get a web page you connect anonymously, download the page and then disconnect from the web server - so if you return to the server to get another page the web server has no way of knowing that you have visited previously. A 'cookie' is just a small piece of additional data that is downloaded to your computer when you visit a page, when you visit another page the cookie is passed back to the server by your browser. The server will use the returned cookie to perform certain processes, such as allowing access to restricted areas/facilities, auto-completing forms and so on.

Stockwire uses cookies to identify Registered Users - when you log-in a a cookie is downloaded to your system that identifies you as a Registered Member so whenever you visit the site the web server knows that you have access to all areas of the site and can auto-complete certain forms for you.

What information is stored in the cookies?

Stockwire does not store any of your personal information in cookies. The only information stored in the cookie is a 30 digit randomly generated string of digits (automatically created by the web server) which is used as a means of identifying you to the server. Unless you specify otherwise in you 'User Preferences', the cookie will be deleted by your web browser upon leaving the site.

What Are OTC Stocks?

OTC officially stands for "over the counter," but "over the computer" is more appropriate today. Long ago, to buy or sell a stock that didn't trade on a stock exchange, you would call your broker. He would call another broker and make the trade over the phone -- not a terribly efficient system. Then, in 1971, the Nasdaq was established, offering an automated stock quotation and trading system.
